Wishy-washy day

In a world of up and downs, today was the uppiest and downiest.

This morning started as usual, a 5:30 wake up and into my pre-work morning routine. Everything went as usual until I was driving to the airfield.

For those of you who do not know, besides being a Marine, I am an Air Traffic Controller.

So on my way past the airfield I heard what sounded like jet turbines cranking to takeoff thrust. I though that it was odd that there would be practice turn-ups going on at 6:15 in the morning. The field shouldn’t have opened until 7. The lights didn’t look like they were on and the rotating beacon on the tower wasn’t on. Sure enough, six of those magnificent machined screamed into the starry darkness. I found out that the field opened early. No phone call secured that I wasn’t supposed to be there.

That was the start of what seemed to be a wishy-washy day. There were so many strange things that happened it seemed like today was one of those “Twilight Zone” days where you swear that you are stuck on the 66th minute of the 6th hour on a Monday that was Friday the 13th. Something like that. I tired. I’m going to bed. I hope tomorrow is more along the normal lines of things.
