Date Night

Last night I took Wifey out for a night on the town. Well, it was only dinner, two hours worth of dinner, and it was worth it. I’m sure that Wifey will have her own account of what it was like. Go there if you want the woman perspective. I will try to provide an accurate representation of the evening.

There I was, the lights were dimmed, music softly flowing in layered swirls around the wide soft room….

Hang on…that was like yesterdays entry. I’ll start over.

Wifey and I had planned on going out for about a week. The only problem we kept on running into was that we had no babysitter for the girls. We finally got one at the last minute. Our new neighbor offered and I jumped at the chance.

It has been quite some time since we could go out on a date. We always talked about it, but never found the time or had the opportunity. We have had our eye set on this place near downtown but not too close to all the rowdiness. We wanted a quiet evening to ourselves to talk and enjoy each other.

When we got to the place we went in what we thought was the main entrance. We actually went in the back door. We stood by what we thought was the reservation book. It was about 5 minutes later that the hostess looked around the corner and invited us in to the main lobby. If it even was a lobby. The place was small and cozy. It was also well decorated with different style art. We sat in the area that had decorated porcelain masks hanging from the wall. I guess we were in the theater section.

Anyway, the hostess presented us with the menu and a wine list. We both scanned our menus for what we wanted. I found what I was going to get as soon as I opened the menu. It was a lobster covered in a butter sauce with scallops, shrimp, and salmon. It sounded good. Wifey wanted the filet mignon with a peppercorn brandy sauce.

EXPENSIVE!!!!! Holey cow was it pricey. Hers said $19 and some and mine just had the words “Market Price” listed. It was around $28 and some.

When the waitress came she asked if we wanted to have some wine. I looked across the table and ordered 2 glasses of Zinfandel. When the waitress returned she brought two wine glasses and two small carafes with the pink wine in them. Each carafe was enough for about a glass and a half.

We are not wine drinkers, but that stuff was good. We ordered our entrees and salads. We were brought a small sourdough roll, then out salads, and finally our entrees. They were to die for. Very good food. We had been talking about the place and the noticed the ages of the patrons. We were the youngest by far. I also commented that what would make or break the place was how good their coffee was. I would have to wait for desert for that. We finished our dinners and ordered an Amaretto Crème Brule and coffee. They were both very, very good. It took 2 hours to complete the meal and the both of us were very satisfied. We might go back for Valentines day.
