Drive-In

As usual the statuesque figure was perched atop one of the tallest buildings in the city awaiting that which called him to action. There it was, like a gigantic moon below that cloud cover, gleaming bright from the top of police headquarters.
It was a warm spring night for the populace and many of them were enjoying the evening out side. The call came in to the police that there was a disturbance at the drive in. The commissioner immediately decided to fire up the signal due to the reports of a gang rioting during a kids film.
Standing by the signal, the commissioner didn't hear him walking up from behind.
"Commissioner?"
"Oh! I didn't hear you approach."
"It's kind of my thing."
"No time for chit chat. There is a gang bothering the citizens at the drive in an we have ....."
Before the commissioner finished he looked to where He had been standing.
"How does he do that?"
"Hey! Where do you think you're going?"
The gang gathered round some teenage girls by the entrance to the drive in.
"Don't you want to stay and watch the movie?"
The girls started to back away in terror. They knew this gang. The gang had been tormenting this neighborhood for weeks. They had a pair of fangs on the back of their leather jackets. They called them selves the Sand Fleas. They would come in waves and, what they called, "Bite" people. They would harass and vandalize people and their cars until the people gave up all their money.
They had cut the projector off during their raid so it was mostly dark. Suddenly the projector started again. There was no movie, just a white screen. Everyone's attention was on the big screen, including the Sand Fleas. A shock went over the drive in when the ominous shape of a bat unfurled itself on the screen. The citizens cheered. The Fleas shook with fear. The shape on the screen was getting bigger and bigger. The leader of the Fleas ordered his men to attack. The drive-in viewers sat back and watched as the shadow of their hero pummeled the shadows of each and every Sand Flea until their was only one left. He, the Flea leader, jumped down from in front of the screen and searched the crowd for the one who took down his gang.
The crowd fell silent. The only thing that the leader could hear was his own heart beat and a few crickets. As his eyes strained to see he felt a tap on his left shoulder. The leader spun around to find no body there. The crowd started laughing. The leader spun back around to silence the crowd and that's when he met the fist of the Hubbyman. The leader's eyes stung with pain form the blow to the jaw. As he fell, he felt someone grab his shirt and he stopped with a jolt. He painfully searched his chest for the hand that caught him and found it to be the same hand that scrambled his senses. Then Black.
When the leader awoke he found the crowd of people enjoying their movie and watching him, bound and gaged, hanging upside-down from the projection booth.
Another successful evening for the people of the city protected by....
Hubyman!
